Episode I: Only This One Doesn’t Suck

I’ve wanted to start blogging again for a while. I loved the old Xanga / Livejournals, which were abandoned for MySpace, which was abandoned for the blogless Facebook. Like so many others, I have grown completely frustrated with Facebook, and the only reason I haven’t closed mine down is because I haven’t been able to convince everyone else to jump ship.

I find satisfaction for my inner exhibitionist in blogging (even when I don’t post photos, and there will never be that kind of photos). At my inner core lies a very private introvert, but I have always enjoyed public speaking. In the past, I’ve gotten in trouble for posting things I should have kept to myself on the internets. On here I will try to keep things light-hearted, PG-13 or less and free from controversy. On the other hand, this is my page. If you don’t like it, you are free to move on to other uses of your time. I will not be offended if you don’t read everything I write. Trolls, however, will be blocked.

I was raised by a Reading Teacher and an Electrical Engineer, so I was a hopeless geek from birth. I taught myself to read before I entered kindergarten. I won my school district’s Writing Contest in 9th grade and received an Honorable Mention in 10th grade (I will try and find the poems). My passion for science really began my senior year of high school when I took Anatomy & Physiology dual enrollment for college credit. I find biology, physics, and (even) chemistry to be absolutely fascinating, and I think it is way underrated in today’s world of celebrity gossip magazines and trash TV. I don’t watch much TV, except for Sci-Fi & Fantasy as well as “19th Century British Pieces with a Strong Female Lead”, as Netflix categorizes them. I idolize Jane Austen, have read the complete unabridged War and Peace, and have a special place in my heart for many characters from classic literature.

I expect the majority of my blogs to be on 5-6 topics: science, literature, geek culture, sewing, cooking, plus “misc”. I will try and include the topic in the title or category, so you can avoid topics that don’t interest you. Obviously they interest me, and I’m a bit self-centered in thinking that what interests me must interest others. Sorry about that, but hey, you came to my page. I hope you find it worthwhile!
